I am a kiwi now living in sunny Brisbane, Australia.  How often does one move to a place that rhymes with their name? So of course I had to go there with the blog name.

Why “busy”?  Well, I work full time, and try to squeeze in loads of hobbies including sewing, knitting, renovating, gardening, ice skating and travelling. My Dad’s nickname for me was “Busy Lizzie” so it has kind of stuck, also his alternate of Dizzy Lizzie didn’t really work 😉 This blog is mostly about my sewing pursuits.

I have been sewing since I was about 10, and on and off since then.  Two years ago I discovered the online world of sewing, blogs and independent patterns and it opened up a new world for me.  Now I sew almost every weekend and I love the enjoyment I get from making my own clothes properly, not the slap dash way I did in the past.  Blogging has changed my attitude to sewing, it is about wearing my makes, not just churning them out. I love the wonderful interactive and supportive world of blogging, instagram and twitter. It has all re-fuelled my love of sewing again into more than a hobby, almost an obsession 🙂

  1. Hi Liz, just joined up to your great blog. Also an ex kiwi living in rural NSW. I’m surprised you’re ambivalent about the Pia dress – I love it and think it looks fab on you. I’ve made a few Tessuti patterns and have had the same weird problem with absolutely masses and masses of pages, way more than necessary, meaning 20+ pages got binned and also faults with the pattern pieces.

    1. Hi Pearl
I am definitely not ambivalent about this dress, I love it and have been wearing it at least twice a week! My husband is not so keen but too bad!
Tessuti do love their extra pieces for vilene which creates loads of extra sheets. I haven’t noticed any faults yet, just too much wastage 😦
